A fantastic weekend of cricket saw strong performances across the board — with big wins, standout debuts, and a gritty cup victory for our Men’s 1st XI.
Women’s 2nd XI – A Debut to Remember!
Balbriggan 150/3 beat Merrion 143/7 by 7 runs
In their first match, the Women’s 2nd XI claimed a memorable win over Merrion! With the bat, there were contributions throughout the order: Debutant Emma Kelly (36), Erin Knight (33), Zoe Harper (27*), and Iseult McDonnell (18).
With the ball, Erin Knight starred with 3/14 off 3, supported by wickets from Mia Keenan, Alana Donnegan, and Iseult. A brilliant start for our ladies team!
Men’s 1st XI – Irish Senior Cup Glory
Balbriggan beat Cliftonville Academy by 7 wickets
A strong all-round display saw the 1st XI progress in the Irish Senior Cup. With the ball, Dylan Lues led the charge with 3/27, backed by excellent spells from Chris de Freitas (2/12), Kashif Ali (2/14), and Zulfiqar Ali (2/7).
The chase was anchored by Conor Fletcher’s 53 (5x4s, 2x6s), with support from Ghanim Dara (30), Chris de Freitas (22), Cameron Rowe (24) and Greg Ford (19).
Men’s 2nd XI – Confident Win Over Leinster 2
Balbriggan 218/6 beat Leinster 214/10 by 4 wickets
A solid team performance secured a deserved win. Abdul Samad was outstanding with 4/41, Ryan Keenan took 3/22, and Bhavesh Lakhotia added 2/29.
With the bat, Nithin Thambi top-scored with 61, with key contributions from Cian Rooney (31), Punit Kapoor (30), and Ryan Keenan (24).
Men’s 4th XI – Back-to-Back Wins
Balbriggan 173/5 beat Malahide 172 by 5 wickets
The 4s made it three wins on the trot, with Karan Karan (3/52) and Neeraj Kumar (4/10) doing the damage with the ball. Druhan Knight (2/37) and John Keeler (1/48) supported well. Chasing 172, the innings was anchored by Karan’s brilliant 74 and Waleed Shahid’s classy 52.
Men’s 5th XI – Narrow Loss in Lucan
Lucan 180 beat Balbriggan 169 by 11 runs
In a tight encounter at St. Catherine’s Park, the 5s came close but fell just short in a spirited chase. Notable batting efforts came from Vikrant Verukhia and Amandeep Singh in a hard-fought match.
