🏏 Weekend Review – Title Pushes, Promotions & Powerful Performances!

As the season heats up, Balbriggan teams are delivering big results across the board. The 4th XI edge closer to league glory, the 3rd XI continue their promotion charge, and our women’s teams remain competitive. Here’s how it all played out this past week:

🔹 Men’s 2nd XI vs Malahide 2

Malahide 258/7 | Balbriggan 179/8 – Malahide won by 79 runs

Aadi Wankhade bowled brilliantly, taking 3/23 to reduce Malahide to 72/6. However, a stunning unbeaten 136 from Anthony Glutz flipped the match on its head. In the chase, Bhavesh Lakhotia top scored with a well-made 53.

A match that slipped away, but good signs from the top-order and early bowling effort.

🔹 Men’s 4th XI vs Swords 4

Swords 169 all out | Balbriggan 223/7 – Balbriggan won by 54 runs

Kuma led the batting with a classy 70, supported by an unbeaten 40 from Jack Flynn. With the ball, Neeraj Kumar was the standout, finishing with 4/26. Hamza Anjum (2/24) and Waleed Shahid (3/36) also delivered with the ball.

The unbeaten run continues and the league title is now within touching distance!

🔹 Men’s 3rd XI vs Mullingar 2

Mullingar 171 all out | Balbriggan 174/6 – Balbriggan won by 4 wickets

Ali Shah starred with the ball (3/21), and Niall McElearney anchored the chase superbly with an unbeaten 44. A solid team performance helped seal another valuable win.

🔹 Men’s 3rd XI vs North County 4

Balbriggan 246 all out | North County 192 all out – Balbriggan won by 54 runs

Adrian Harper led the way with the bat, scoring 84, supported by Qutubuddin Sheik (42) and Kamo (38). Wickets were shared around, with Aadi picking up 2 crucial ones.

Promotion is now just one win away – huge few weeks ahead for the 3s!

🔹 Men’s 5th XI vs Knockharley 3

Balbriggan 38 all out | Knockharley 39/2 – Knockharley won by 8 wickets

A tough day on a tricky and unpredictable pitch. Despite the result, the game was played in great spirits and the hosts were as welcoming as ever.
