Another action-packed week for Balbriggan Cricket Club, with standout performances from our women’s teams, tight league battles, and a bittersweet end to a long unbeaten run for the 4s. Here’s the roundup:
🔹 Women’s 1st XI vs Rush
Rush W1 146/3 | Balbriggan W1 147/1 – Balbriggan won by 9 wickets
Madison Landsman delivered an absolute masterclass with the bat, finishing on 84* off 51 balls (12x4s, 1×6). She was supported by Lara Maritz (29* off 37) and Ella Marsh (14).
Earlier, Madison also took 2/26 and Lara grabbed a wicket to help restrict Rush. Another top performance from the W1s!
🔹 Men’s 1st XI vs Malahide 1
Malahide 185 all out | Balbriggan 145 all out – Malahide won by 40 runs
Dylan Lues led the bowling attack with 4/44, while Seb De Oliveira, Andy Darroch, and Jordan Hollard took two wickets apiece.
Jordan also top scored with 49, but the Brig couldn’t quite chase down the target.
🔹 Men’s 2nd XI Double Header
vs Malahide 2
Malahide 185/6 | Balbriggan 145 all out – Malahide won by 40 runs
Welcome back to Eoin Birch! Great to see him return to the club. Wickets were shared between Emad Uddin and Abdul Samad (2 each), with one each for Shakir Ullah and Bhavesh Lakhotia.
Cian Rooney top scored with 24, but the innings lacked a big score to anchor the chase.
vs The Hills 2
The Hills 166/7 | Balbriggan 163 all out – The Hills won by 3 wickets
Cian Rooney once again led with the bat, scoring 53 (6x4s), and built an 88-run stand with Punit Kapoor (41).
Abdul Samad (3/45) had the Hills in trouble early, reducing them to 29/4 with help from Shakir, Eoin Birch, Ryan Keenan, and Ghanim Dara.
🔹 Men’s 4th XI vs Adamstown
Adamstown 213/9 | Balbriggan 173 all out – Adamstown won by 40 runs
It’s been a brilliant league campaign so far for the 4s, but their unbeaten run came to an end. Still, they’re just one win away from securing the league title! Let’s back Avi and the lads 💪
John Keeler was standout with the ball (4/34), breaking a big 4th-wicket stand. Karan also chipped in with 3/38.
